Hey I’m Glenn

I’ve been a musician since 2001

Imagine an annoying little kid, begging their Mom and Dad day in and day out for a drum set. That was me! They finally caved (after 2.5 years of constant nagging) and got me a drum set from the classified section of the Spectator.

Unfortunately, all the bands in my high school already had drummers. So, after a year, I traded my drumsticks for a guitar and dove headfirst into a punk band with my buddies. Weekends were a whirlwind of shows in Hamilton and Toronto, using MapQuest printouts to navigate the city.

When it came time to apply for post-secondary education, I made the last-minute decision to study jazz at Mohawk. I started teaching while still in school at local music studios. Then, I did a brief stint in science at McMaster, where I spent all my time practicing for my elective course, which was the McMaster Jazz Big Band.

I then went on to play drums on cruise ships, where I got to work with some amazing musicians from all over the world. This allowed me to check off more than 17 countries from my travel list while sight-reading shows seven days a week.

I came back to Hamilton in 2014, originally with the thought to move to New York City or LA. But after having seen the world, I decided we had it pretty good here and decided to stick around. I’ve been firmly planted here since, spending my time full time creating resource material for my students, learning music that I need to perform for any particular week, and creating my own original music.

If you’re looking to learn an instrument, get in touch! I’ve been teaching for close to 20 years now and have had students learn from scratch or help musicians get to the next level in their playing. Are you looking to put together music for a live event? I’ve worked in all genres and have contacts who can play jazz to country. Let me know what you’re looking for, and I’ll point you in the right direction!
